Stir-Fried Spinach with Sesame Chicken

Imagine this. You’re stuck in traffic on your way home, and you’ve just arrived without preparing anything. Your partner will be home in less than 15 minutes! What dish can you make quickly that will still tantalize the taste buds and satisfy your hunger? Stir-fried water spinach is the answer.

Without further ado, here is the recipe for cooking fragrant and flavorful stir-fried water spinach for two servings (or three if you have a smaller appetite):

Preparation:

Stir-Fried Water Spinach with Sesame Chicken:

  • 300 grams water spinach (can be substituted with other vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower), leaves picked and washed
  • 200 grams chicken fillet, cut into small cubes
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 shallot, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Palma Black Pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Sufficient cooking oil for stir-frying

Cooking Steps:

Making Stir-Fried Water Spinach with Sesame Chicken:

  1. Heat cooking oil in a wok over medium heat. Sauté the garlic and shallot until fragrant and wilted.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the wok and stir-fry until they change color and are cooked through. Mix well with the sautéed ingredients.
  3. Add oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, salt, and black pepper powder to the wok. Stir well until the seasonings are combined with the chicken.
  4. Add the water spinach to the wok. Stir-fry the water spinach until wilted and well-coated with the seasonings. Make sure not to overcook the water spinach to maintain its crispiness.
  5. Pour sesame oil into the wok and stir well. Sesame oil adds a distinctive aroma and flavor to the stir-fried water spinach.
  6. Finally, sprinkle the stir-fried water spinach with sesame seeds. Stir briefly until the sesame seeds are evenly distributed.
  7. Remove the stir-fried water spinach with sesame chicken from the wok and serve it on a serving plate.

Serving:

The fragrant and flavorful stir-fried water spinach with sesame chicken is ready to be enjoyed, and you still have about 3 minutes left, enough time to play a song from your Spotify playlist while setting up the plate, spoon, and fork on the dining table!
